WHAT IS BIMPE?

BIMPE is a miniature print competition held every 2 years, and this year hosted by The Society for Contemporary Works on Paper which is based on Granville Island, Vancouver, Canada. The intent of BIMPE is to facilitate international artistic exchange and to increase public awareness and appreciation for printmaking.

The deadline for RECEIVING entries is May 10th 2008. Please make sure that your prints will arrive BEFORE this date (we know you like to leave it until the last minute). The last day to receive prints in the mail will be Friday May 9th, so send them with plenty of time to spare!

THE PRINTS

  • Every artist can submit 3 prints in any printmaking medium.

  • Up to 5 prints from each edition may be submitted

  • The printed area must not exceed 10 x 15 cm or 6 x 4 inches (or 150 cm² or 24 inches² in any dimensions) 

  • The paper size must not exceed 28 x 21.5 cm (8.5 x 11 inches) (or it must fit in an A4 plastic sleeve - Prints of the same edition can be submitted in the same sleeve.)   

    Prints should be unmounted, and each print should have an identification label attached to the back. (see entry form)

    ENTRY FEE

  • The entry fee is $30 in Canadian dollars, $30 US Dollars or ?25 Euros. Payable by money/postal order, cash or cheques (US or CDN only) made payable to SCWOP (The Society for Contemporary Works on Paper)

    JURY SELECTION

  • The prizes, awarded by a 3 person jury are: $1000 for first prize, $750 second prize and $500 third prize. There will also be 10 honourable mentions. All prizes are in Canadian dollars

    Participants will be informed via email in MAY as to whether their work has been selected for exhibition

    THE EXHIBITION

    The exhibition will take place at the Federation Gallery from 3rd June to 22nd June 2008, and at Dundarave Print Workshop from the 7th July - 3rd August 2008

    SALES and RETURN of WORK

  • All unsold and unselected prints will be returned to artists at the society's expense after the exhibition.

    Artists will recieve 60% of the sale price, please price your work accordingly.
